These cookies were made using Dinosaur Cookie Cutters and Wilton Cookie Icing.

DINOSAUR VEGETABLE PLATTER

This Dino Vegetable platter was so much fun to make.  Using sliced cucumbers makes it easy to create the dinosaur shape.  Simply fill in around the dinosaur with your favorite vegetables. Carrots was used for the ground area, broccoli for the trees, and cauliflower for the sky.

BEST SOUTHERN PRALINES – Super Easy to Make

I have had this recipe for over twenty years.  I think it came out of an old Southern Living magazine /cookbook. I made a copy of a page that contains four recipes but there is no identification anywhere on the page.  I plan to make all four recipes so I’ll add them and I add the recipes.
I don’t know why I have recipes in my head that I consider hard to make but I do.  Pralines is one of those recipes that I always thought hard to make.  Maybe I used a different recipe in the past or maybe I’m just getting old and can’t remember things.  Either way, this recipe is super easy and can be made from staples in your pantry.

SOUTHERN PRALINES

INGREDIENTS

  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1/2 cups milk
  • 1/2 cup light corn syrup
  • 2 tablespoons butter or margarine
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups of pecans

EASTER ~ MALTED EGG CUPCAKES

I look forward to Easter each year because I know the stores will be stocking Malted Eggs.  I just love them!  With my love of these malted eggs in mind, I tried to create a cupcake that has the same malt goodness.

TROLLS ~ OVER-THE-TOP MILKSHAKE

If you are planning a Trolls party or just have a Trolls lover in your house, I have the perfect beverage for you.  How about making this strawberry milkshake and loading it down with tons of sweet goodness?

I made my first Monster Shake a couple of nights ago to celebrate Saint Patricks day.  It turned out great so I was thinking about how I could make one of these shakes with the Dreamworks movie Trolls in mind.  I debated between pink and blue for the shake but I had strawberry on hand so pink won out.  I think blue or purple would also be awesome.

THE BEST SPINACH DIP EVER!

best-spinach-dip-ever

As everyone is preparing to bring in the New Year this weekend, I thought I would share a couple of great recipes that would be perfect for your New Year party.
I love Spinach and Artichoke Dip and eat it more often than I probably should.  I have this amazing no-fail recipe that is quick, easy, gooey, cheesy, and oh so delicious.
But as good as this recipes is…..there are some  people that don’t like artichokes.  My brain can’t even process this as being a possibility,  but I have heard it is so.
At this point I will offer an excellent alternative…..This wonderful, warm, and creamy Spinach Dip.  I will even go so far as say this it is the best I have ever had and it is requested at all of our blogger events.

TOASTED PECAN-COCONUT CARAMEL PIE

Caramel Pecan Coconut Pie

I'm not a huge pie fan.  I like coconut pie, pecan pie, and occasionally buttermilk pie but that's pretty much the extent of my fondness for pie....at least until this pie came along.  This pie moved to the top of my pie list.  Seriously, this pie is amazing.

Don't like coconut?  Leave it off.  Don't like pecans?  Leave it off.  That's the great thing about this recipe.  You can omit or add toppings and it will still taste great.

Have I convinced you of this pie's greatness?  If so, you can check out the recipe here.....SWEET SOUTHERN BLUE - TOASTED PECAN-COCONUT CARAMEL PIE.

HOT FUDGE CAKE (aka. Chocolate Cobbler)

HOT FUDGE CAKE

I can’t tell you how good this Hot Fudge Cake taste.  The soft moist chocolaty cake with this creamy, delicious fudge sauce.  I have seen this cake called Chocolate Cobbler but I always think of cobbler as having a pie-like crust and I just can’t associate this piece of chocolate heaven with a cobbler.
If you would like to make this chocolate delight, you can get the recipe on my home and garden site - Sweet Southern Blue

COUNTRY BREAKFAST SKILLET

COUNTRY BREAKFAST SKILLET 2

Having chickens, I have a lot of fresh eggs on hand and I’m always looking for ways to use up my surplus supply.  Scrambling eggs and tossing in some meat and vegetables is a great and easy way to use up some of those wonderful eggs that my little hens work so hard to produce.
This is a great recipe when you need to cook something quickly.  I cook a lot of sausage at one time and then put it in the freezer.  When the time comes to cook breakfast, I can grab some of cooked sausage and throw in my eggs and veggies.   You can have breakfast in minutes !

TORTELLINI WITH ITALIAN SAUSAGE

Tortellini

I’ve never met a tortellini that I didn’t like.  Hot soup or cold salad….if it has tortellini, it’s going to be good.
This Tortellini with Italian Sausage is such an easy recipe and it only takes one pot which means that not only does it taste great,  but there’s only one pot to wash.  Dinner doesn’t get any easier than this.

Easy Pumpkin Pancakes (Bisquick)

I always look forward to fall because I starting making recipes using pumpkin.  I make pumpkin biscuits, pumpkin ooey gooey butter cakepumpkin cookiespumpkin cupcakes, and pumpkin pancakes.
I don’t know why I wait until fall to enjoy these tasty treats since I could eat pumpkin pancakes all year long.  Maybe I’ll save a couple of cans of pumpkin and make them for the fourth of July!
If you are craving some pumpkin pancakes, here is an easy recipe using Bisquick.

BACON RANCH CORN SALAD

Bacon Ranch Corn Salad

I love, love, love this corn salad !  Did I mention that I love this corn salad?

I don't use it as a side dish but as a meal.  It's so easy to make and you can customize it to your personal taste.  I even add cucumber to the recipe.

You can get the recipe here at Sweet Southern Blue.

GROWN UP SMORES

Grown Up Smores

Though I like the taste of smores, I never make them.  The chocolate doesn’t melt like I want it too and my marshmallows always catch on fire.  And if you are making them over a campfire then you are going to have goo everywhere.  Or maybe I’m just messy !
I have been eating marshmallow cream on my graham crackers since I was a kid. (I also have a friend who eats it on Ritz crackers ) I usually don’t even bother with the top cracker, I just smear it on one side and eat it but the other day I decided I wanted chocolate so I went to my pantry.
smores 6 (640x450)
When I opened the door, I spied a jar of Nutella…BINGO !  I knew I had hit the jackpot because I love Nutella.  I guess this isn’t really a recipe so much as a combination of three delicious treats smushed together.  (graham crackers, marshmallow cream, and Nutella)
You can read the entire post HERE on my country living site SWEET SOUTHERN BLUE.
